Skills & Learning Bournemouth, Dorset & Poole is the joint adult learning service for Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole which is part of the Culture and Community Learning Service of the Borough of Poole. 

It is one of the largest providers of part-time learning opportunities in Dorset, offering a wide range of vocational and non-vocational subjects across a broad curriculum to individuals and groups, aged 16 and over, and to businesses.

The post holder will be a member of the Skills & Learning Customer Service & Business Support Team.  The team undertakes the frontline and back office functions including external and internal customer service, business support services, finance services, data services and supporting exams.

The post holder will be based at the Oakdale Learning Centre. This is a busy and vibrant site where the post holder will be part of a small team providing customer service for learners. The tasks will include reception duties, providing information, taking enrolments and staffing the Service’s main telephone enquiry line. Applicants should be comfortable in a frontline role and dealing with customers either face to face or by telephone.                 

The work is subject to deadlines, often with changing priorities, and the role holder will be required to manage tasks against this background. As such, they will need to plan their own workflow under the direction of the Team Leader. Organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential. 

Post holders may be required to take responsibility for unlocking and locking premises and some travel between sites may also be required. 

The post holder will be required to work the 22.2 hours per week, across the 5 working days and ideally working afternoons until 5.00pm. 

The work is varied and interesting and full training will be offered to the successful candidate.
