Over the last few years the Domestic Abuse social work post has become instrumental in improving the quality of social work assessments and interventions for children where domestic abuse is causing safeguarding and child protection concerns within the Borough of Poole.

The Domestic abuse post spans across the whole of CYPSC and is line managed within our Safeguarding and Permanence service. You will work alongside social workers undertaking risk assessments and providing direct work to families.  The post holder will promote best practice and share research with all the teams in our structure where specialist interventions are needed. 

The worker in this role will play a significant part in promoting our learning culture supporting the workforce develop their knowledge and skills to enable better management of risk in the following areas:

  • Interventions with perpetrators of domestic abuse
  • Interventions with couples and safety planning.
  • Working with domestic abuse in teenage relationships
  • Research and best practice

The successful candidate will be involved in Poole’s Domestic Violence Forum and represent CYPSC at MARAC. There will be opportunities to work alongside professionals delivering the UP2U perpetrator and partner program, prioritizing and screening referrals from social care.  The Domestic Abuse social worker also works closely with agencies delivering work for victims and those working directly with children in educational settings.
